Betty J. Mundell, 79, lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away March 9, 2023, surrounded by her family in her home following a brief illness. She was born on February 2, 1944, in Frankfort, to Thomas and Laura (Little) Walker. She attended Frankfort Community Schools. Betty married Lewis Mundell, and they later divorced. She met Diane Starnes, and they have been together since 1978. They married on May 22, 2015.
Betty worked at P.R. Mallory, Mac’s Hamburgers and Steakhouse and drove the bus for Paul Phillippe Resource Center. Betty was a jack of all trades but master of none and her family was the spice of her life…but she just didn’t know what spice. She enjoyed carpentry work, woodworking, carving, gardening, but more importantly she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and teaching them about nature.
Surviving Betty are her wife, Diane; sons, Wayne (Suki) Mundell of Frankfort, Kentucky, and James (Belinda) Mundell of Delphi; daughter, Joann (Jim) Spaulding of Frankfort, Indiana; grandchildren, Ryan (Brianna) Spaulding, Marissa (Korri) Defries, Keisha (Cory) Mundell, Kayne (Autumn) Mundell, and Keeley (Dylan) Mundell; great-grandchildren, Xavier, Samuel, Braxton, Lynkon, Greyson, and Billy; and a brother, Michael (Deb) Walker of Warner Robbins, Georgia.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tommy, Harold, and Randel; and sisters, Virginia, Margaret, and Kay.
Visitation will be Monday March 13, 2023, from 10am until the start of the funeral service at 1 pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, with Jim Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery. Memorials in Betty’s name may be made to Paul Phillippe Resource Center.
