William S. âBillâ VanArsdell, 91, Walton, died at 8:17 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at Clinton House Health and Rehab Center.
He was born Aug. 25, 1920, in Frankfort, to Frank and Mollie C. (Judge) VanArsdell.
He married Betty Lou Moore on Nov. 29, 1948. She survives.
Mr. VanArsdel worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad as a railroad police officer for more than 28 years. He lived in Walton for 40 years and in Frankfort previously. He was a member of the Frankfort American Legion, First Christian Church in Frankfort, and attended the Walton Christian Church. He served as a U.S. Army Air Corps pilot in World War II and was present for D-Day.
In addition to his wife, Mr. VanArsdell is survived by three daughters: Kimberly (Brad) VanArsdell of Crawfordsville, Stephanie (Randy) Looper of Parker, Colo., and Abby VanArsdell of Walton; and two grandchildren: Carly Looper and Kaitlyn Looper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Walton Christian Church, with Pastor Bill Collins officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery.
