Walter Sherman Isenberg

Walter Sherman Isenberg passed unexpectedly Saturday evening, July 12, 2025, at his residence. Walter was born in South Bend, Indiana, on December 14, 1958, to Kenneth Eugene Isenberg and Lois Eileen Isenberg (Mangus).

He is survived by his mother Lois Eileen Isenberg (Mangus) and wife Jenifer Lee Isenberg (Morrissey), after almost 39 years of marriage, and his ten children and their spouses, Ashley (Geoffrey), Daniel (Wang Pu), Brittiany (Ben), Catherine (Amos), Rebekah, Hannah, Eileen (Blake), Paul, Bethany and Joel. He will forever be remembered in the hearts of his fourteen grandchildren, Jonathan, Leah, Michael, Beniah, Rachel, Titus, Natalie, Gabriella, Tirza, Ruth, Andrew, Joshua, Nathan, and Rose. He will be missed by his siblings and their families; Keith (Anita), Karen (Craig), Jerry (Maureen), Gary (Dee), John, Amy (Jon), Kevin (Candy) and on his wife’s side; Steve (Linda) and Chuck.

Walter was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Eugene Isenberg, his son, Jadon Isenberg and his granddaughter, Abigail Hope Brehm.

Walter worked at Caterpillar as an LPSD Platform Engineering Fellow for more than 42 years and worked in the field of metallurgy for over 45 years. He was looking forward to retirement and had planned to retire July 31, 2025. Walter was very dedicated at his job and his impact in his work place touched the lives of many. Not just in Lafayette, Indiana, but also globally through his numerous work trips. Walter was dedicated to living out his life’s example the same whether at work or home. He honored God in everything he did.

Walter spent a great deal of his time prayer walking, with the goal of walking the entire State of Indiana, reclaiming the ground for God’s glory. He also hosted a Saturday morning prayer walk where he would meet with fellow believers and pray for Lafayette and surrounding cities. He made it a point to prayer walk in any country abroad that he found himself in whether that was for work or vacation.

He was very influential in the lives of his children, grandchildren and friends. He greatly enjoyed family time, whether that was one on one with his children or in a group setting through the many family gatherings hosted at his house. He loved vacationing with his family and took them on annual trips as well as individual trips with his wife, exploring new places. Walter loved his family and was very proud of all of his children and the accomplishments they had made. He was excited to be able to spend more time with his children in the month proceeding his retirement. He was always encouraging those around him and always pointing them back to the Lord to seek the heart of the Father. His most recent devotions were bringing God’s righteousness here on earth as it is in heaven.

His legacy will always carry on, reminding us to always look to the Lord and seek His face in everything that we do. He was always striving after the will of God and was always pushing those around him to do the same.

A memorial service will be held, Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 2pm at Upper Room Christian Fellowship, 2234 Indian Trail Drive, West Lafayette. Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is assisting with the services. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
