Sharon Mae (Keller) Prater

Sharon Mae Keller Prater, 79, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on December 9, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born in Lafayette, Indiana on June 22, 1946, Sharon lived in Mulberry her entire life and was a 1964 graduate of Clinton Prairie High School. Sharon married Andy Prater on December 2, 1967. He passed away on March 18, 2022.

Sharon worked for Public Service in Lafayette after graduating high school. Subsequently, she worked alongside Andy for many years as the bookkeeper at Andy’s Marathon, later Andy’s 66. She then worked for Skelgas Mulberry and eventually retired from Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.

Sharon was a loving mother to her children, Robert and Kirsten, and the proud grandmother of Jack. She enjoyed camping, craft shows, baking, decorating for holidays, and watching Jack race.

For the last year and a half Sharon resided in the G Wing at Wesley Manor where she quickly became known to the caring staff as quite a character whose facial expressions spoke the words she no longer could. She logged countless miles on her walker as she spent her days making laps around the unit.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Zerna Keller, brother, Donald LaPlante, and husband, Andy. She is survived by her children, Robert Prater and Kirsten Clark (Troy) and her grandson, Jack Hoyer.

Visitation will be from 3-6p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Mulberry. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Gloria Dei. Jason Fortner will officiate. Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Mulberry Chapel is assisting with the arrangements.
