Ruth I. Kemmer, 92, Rossville, passed away Friday, December 8, 2023, at her residence surrounded by family. She was born July 2, 1931, in Tippecanoe County to Burvil and Lavaun (Ewing) Snyder. She married Richard E. Kemmer on September 2, 1949, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Pettit. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2017.
Ruth was a 1949 graduate of Rossville High School. She worked alongside her husband of 68 years, while also having a few outside jobs during their lengthy marriage. They moved to Colorado in 1963 and enjoyed life on the front range for 28 years before returning to their roots in the Rossville area. Ruth enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed sending cards and was known for reminding everyone “Remember God is good” in all her cards.
Ruth is survived by her children, Gordon (Debbie) Kemmer, Joyce (Jim) Garrett, and Connie (Brian) Morger; sisters, Karen (Tony) Gascho and Kay Knop; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Joann Miller and Jane Roush; and brothers-in-law, Bill Miller, Roy Roush, Jr. and Don Knop.
Memorial Visitation will be Friday, March 22, 2024, from 9:30 a.m.. until the start of the Memorial Service at 10:30 a.m. at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Rossville Presbyterian Church. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
