Mabel A. Norman

Mabel A. Norman, 96, of Lafayette, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at her granddaughter’s home.  She was born November 14, 1921, in Metcalfe, Kentucky, to Richard and Verna (Ferguson) Rutledge.  On July 23, 1948, she married William Norman; he preceded her in death on January 3, 1999.

In 1940, Mabel graduated from Summer Shade High School in Kentucky.  She had worked as a clerk at J.C. Penny in both Frankfort and Lafayette for 27 years before retiring in 1984.  Mabel had also taught Sunday school at Corner Stone Baptist Church where she was a member.

Surviving are her son, Robert D. Nunn, of Lafayette; granddaughter, Andrea Nunn (Michelle Wells), of Lafayette; sister, Dorothy Garman, of Delphi; and sister-in-law, Sharon Rutledge.  In addition to her husband, Mabel is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Darrell and Leonard.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 1:00 p.m. to the start of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
