Lonnie worked for Jefferson Smurfit for 30 years until his retirement February 3, 2004. He then stayed home and helped take care of the grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of Oxford Baptist Church. Lonnie enjoyed gardening, mowing on his John Deere, working outside, cooking and then eating what he cooked for him and his family. He was a family man and loved his family above all, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lonnie is survived by his daughter, Carla (Chris) Elliott; sisters, Louise Skidmore, Regina DeYoung, Helen (Vince) Ricks; grandchildren, Heidie (Jamin) Kuns, Sarah Thomas, Allie Elliott; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Corbin, Hadley, and Aubrey Kuns.
Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norris and Ray Foust; and brothers-in-law, Claris Skidmore and Randy DeYoung.
Visitation will be held, Monday, January 15, 2024, from 10am until the time of the service at 12pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel. Pastor Devon Sink will officiate. Burial will follow Dayton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made on Lonnie’s behalf to St. Anthony Health Care in Lafayette. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
The family would like to offer a special gratitude to all of the nurses and care staff at St. Anthony Health Care for the love, compassion and kindness shown to Lonnie. They are grateful for all you did to make his days as comfortable and peaceful as you did. Thank you.
