LaVon K. Smith

LaVon K. Smith, 89, of Granada, MN, formerly of Flora, went home to be with her Savior on Friday, March 12, 2021, at her daughter Loretta’s home in Minnesota. She was born April 17, 1931, in Omaha, Nebraska to Rudy and Katherine (Farach) Gasser.  She married Alfred Smith on June 12, 1949; he preceded her in death on December 3, 2010.

LaVon was a loving mother and homemaker who served alongside her husband as a faithful pastor’s wife and gave piano lessons for many years.

LaVon is survived by a son; David (Heidi) Smith of PA; daughters, Cheryl (Hans) Stitzinger of PA, Julie (Jeff) Angus of Galveston, IN, Connee Ellsbury of IA, Loretta (John) Schofield of MN, and Darlene (Jason) Pankonin of MN; son-in-law, David Rousellow of MN, 28 grandchildren, and 51 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred; son, Philip Daniel Smith; daughter, Linda Rousellow, and son-in-law, Rod Ellsbury.

Family services will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Genda Funeral Home ~ Reinke Chapel in Flora, Indiana with LaVon’s son, Pastor David Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora, Indiana.
