Krenta (Arion) Keller

Krenta L. Keller, of Rossville died at 8:30am on Monday, August 4, 2025 in Milner Community Healthcare where she had been residing for a short time. She was born the youngest of nine children to Mabel E. Hardy Arion and George W. Arion on December 7, 1936 in rural Carroll County. On July 2, 1960 she married Donald S. Keller in Wabash, Indiana. On July 2, 2025 they celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Mom was a 1956 graduate of Burlington High School. She then went to Wright’s Beauty Academy in Logansport, Indiana where she received a certificate in Cosmetology.

Mom was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was at her happiest when she was cooking, cleaning, gardening and taking care of others. She was proud of her home and yard and took immaculate care of them. This brought her great joy and satisfaction. Mom left us with many good examples of her quiet nature, dedication to her family and contentment with the simple joys of life.

Some of Mom’s favorite pleasures were mushroom hunting on the family homestead (she could find them when no one else could). She enjoyed picking black raspberries with her son Ed in the hot summer, and hanging up fresh laundry on her clothesline. Mom proved that the best things in life are free. Mom was well known for her homemade pies, cakes and cookies which were happily consumed by family, friends and church members. Mom raised her own strawberries for over sixty years, one year she picked over 600 quarts.

Mom was a 61-year member of the Radnor United Methodist Church where she actively participated in church duties from mowing the church lawn, helping with funeral dinners and serving as a communion steward.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years and one son Edward (Randy) Keller of Dayton and 2 step grandsons, Alexander Smith and Jacob Smith. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Linda Keller Stamper of Battle Ground.

Preceding her in death are her parents and all eight of her siblings.

Services will be one hour prior to interment on Friday, August 8th at 10am in Hopewell Cemetery in Deer Creek, Indiana. Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Funeral Home in Rossville is assisting with the arrangements. The family requests no flowers or planters. If you would like to remember Krenta, enjoy a family meal with your loved ones. Have pie for dessert! Truly, the simple things in life are the most important.

The family would like to thank Milner Community Health and Elara Hospice, especially the nurses and aides for caring for Mom these last few months. A special thank you to Taunya Hughes who has provided loving care to our family for years and has become a part of our family.
