Jerry Lee Wise

Jerry Lee Wise, 78, of Colfax, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Witham Health Hospital in Lebanon. He was born, June 7, 1946, in Edna Mills at his grandma Gove’s house, to LeRoy Louis and Catherine Helen (Gove) Wise. He married Kathryn Chandler on May 5, 1972, and she survives.

Jerry was a 1964 graduate of Rossville High School. He was then drafted into the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as an Attachment to the 366th gun fighters. He worked as a Diesel Mechanic in his own shop “Bypass” before working for LCL Transit. He was a member of the Eagles, the VFW, Lafayette Kroozers, and Traders Point Church in Zionsville. He played bass in several bands, 2 plus 2, and recorded with Night Train Edition on the album of the same name. He enjoyed playing at the Lafayette Eagles on Thursdays and VFW on Saturdays. He also enjoyed fishing at Dayton ponds, his Nifty Fifty Ford pick-up truck, working on classic cars, going to the casino, and listening and playing music. He was known for his funny- outgoing personality, his caring demeanor, and his love for God and his family. He was a great son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to so many.

Along with his wife of 53 years, Jerry is survived by his children, Randal Wise and Holly (Joel) Woody; a sister, Mary (John) Lucas; grandchildren, Alexie, Sam, Levi, and Isaiah; and a nephew, Jason.

He was preceded in death by parents, a brother, John Wise; and niece Michelle.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 30, 2025, from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Pastor Jim Spaulding will officiate with burial following at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax. Military Rites will be performed by the Clinton County Honor Guard.
