Jerry Eugene Chittick, 78, of Rossville, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Clinton House Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
He was born March 27, 1947, in Frankfort to the late Max E. and Lavon L. (Wagner) Chittick.
Jerry was a graduate of Rossville High School class of 1965. He then studied at Purdue University receiving a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and a Master’s degree in Wood Technology. He was the owner and operator of Chittick Wool, Ginseng, and Fur and was a member of the NRA. Jerry enjoyed sheep shearing and won several contests over the years, including the State Fair. He also enjoyed hunting ginseng, raising silver fox and mink, being outdoors, watching Purdue Basketball, and loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He never knew a stranger, loved talking with people, and will be remembered for his fun-loving personality and being a jokester.
Jerry is survived by his identical twin brother, Garry V. (Zoe) Chittick; brother, Gordon G. (Diane) Chittick; sister, Donna (Richard) Longenecker; nephews, Miles, Conan, Justin, Chad, and Brent Chittick; Greg, Brett, Brandon, Ryan, and Darren Longenecker; a niece, Denise Houser; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held, June 4, 2025, from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel in Rossville with Pastor Nathan Eikenberry officiating. Burial will follow at Geetingsville cemetery. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
