Helen J. Whitaker, 91, died at home Aug. 10, 2011.

She was born Aug. 3, 1920 in Rankin, Ill., the daughter of Joe and Grace (Raymond) Zobrist. She attended schools in Rankin, Ill., but moved to Frankfort in 1936 and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1938. She married Russell (Buck) Whitaker, Nov. 5, 1938. He died July 21, 1978.

She was a homemaker and joined Methodist Church at age 10 in Rankin, Ill. and was baptized there at age 12. She was a 50-plus year member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church and was a member of Women of the Moose.

She is survived by one son, Paul (wife Cheryl) Whitaker, Frankfort; one daughter-in-law, Carol Whitaker, 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters; two brothers; two sons, Tom Whitaker and David Whitaker; one daughter, Sally Sigman; two grandchildren, Debbie Crick and Joe Whitaker; great-granddaughter, Becky Albaugh; and one son-in-law, Joe Sigman

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jake Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12 at Genda Funeral Home and one hour of calling at the church prior to the service

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Clinton County Cancer Association.
