George Louis DeRosa Jr., 79, of Frankfort, Indiana, passed away on August 16, 2025. He was born in Indianapolis May 15, 1946, to George & Edna DeRosa.
The family moved to Frankfort when he was 10, where he attended St. Mary's Catholic School, Jackson Township School, Frankfort Junior High School, and eventually graduated with the class of 1964 at Frankfort High School.
Even though George attended IU Bloomington, he was an avid - THE BIGGEST - Notre Dame University football fan - EVER! He actually enjoyed all college football.
George proudly served at March Air Force Base in Riverside, California, with a short tour in Okinawa. While out west, he married Elizabeth (Liz) Field on March 29, 1969.
After returning to Frankfort, George was employed at Mallory Controls and Indiana Brass.
George loved this small town of Frankfort and wanted to stay involved. As a member of Moose Lodge #7, George served as Governor. His time on the Frankfort School Board was a special honor. Joining the Optimist Club, he held the position of President.
In his free time, George loved to hunt and fish and was a gun safety instructor, sharing these activities with his best friend Mike Timmons and Mike's sons, Chip and Brad. Those yearly fishing trips to Minnesota, and many trips to the Indy 500 Race, were great, too!
Weekends were also spent on day trips with Liz to "Wander Indiana".
George is survived by his wife, son: George (Nicole) DeRosa III from Aurora Illinois, daughter: Gina Warren from West Lafayette, grandsons: Elias and Isaac Warren, sister: Vicki DeRosa, son-in-law: Steve Abston, brother-in-law: Robert Field, and countless cousins! He was preceded in death by his parents, and son-in-law: John Warren.
Per George's request, there will be no formal services held. His ashes will be spread over Lake of the Woods, Minnesota, where the walleye live. So now George can truly say he's "Gone Fishin'".
Although George often put on a gruff and serious face, he was a kind, empathetic & humble man. He loved being a grandpa. He also had a passion for animals, so feel free to make a donation in his honor to the Clinton County Humane Society.
