Gayle Anne (Vandercook) Southerland

Gayle Anne Southerland, 82, of Hammond, passed away at her home on April 14, 2024.  She was born June 18, 1941, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Eugene and Thelma (Gall) Vandercook. 

Gayle was a graduate of Le Grand High School in 1959.  She then graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College.  She was a homemaker and ran a day care out of her home for years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hammond.  She enjoyed gardening and being outdoors working with plants.

Gayle is survived by her daughter Michelle (Jim) Hendrickson; sisters, Betty Seymour of McKinney, TX and Fern (Carl) Balmer of Marshalltown, IA; granddaughters, Mikayla Hendrickson and Jessie Hendrickson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; baby brother, Ray Vandercook; and niece, Denise Stephens.
