Emma Jean Highlander, 80, of Frankfort, passed away, Monday, January 21, 2026, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. She was born November 7, 1945, in Williamsport to Dewey and Ethel (Ross) Stetler. She married Ed Highlander on July 24, 1965. He preceded her in passing on March 31, 2019.
Emma was a graduate of God's Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1964. She attended St. Luke for years where she played the piano. She served as a music minister at Colfax Wesleyan Church with her husband. She also attended Hope Community Church.
Emma enjoyed traveling with her husband, bird watching, listening and watching the Woodsman perform, and spending time with her family. She had a kind heart, and a wonderful ear to listen. She will be remembered for her compassion and care for others.
Surviving Emma are her son, Scott (Kathryn) Highlander; a brother, Monte (Mary) Stetler; adoptive grandchildren, Axle and Houston; sisters-in-law, Sandra Sexton and Emily Highlander; special "Family" Gary and Brenda Brown and their daughters, Stacy (Bill) Bell and Amy (James) Alther; Jeff and Jenny Watson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in passing by her parents and 9 siblings.
