Donna Rae (Wheeler) Hines

Donna Rae Hines, 85, of Frankfort, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born July 16, 1940, in Columbus, Indiana to Raymond and Helen (Arnold) Wheeler. She married Richard Hines on April 23, 1962, and he survives.

Donna attended Frankfort School Corporation. She worked as a waitress and then had a house cleaning service. But her pride was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved taking care of her family and her home. Donna was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Frankfort. She enjoyed taking trips to the casino and playing the slots, playing cards, dancing, going to country music concerts, and shopping, especially at Burlington Coat Factory. She was an avid Peyton Manning and Bobby Knight fan. Donna had a heart of service. She was always caring for others and loved socializing with others. She loved people. Her beautiful blue eyes will be missed.

Along with her husband of 63 years, Donna is survived by her daughter, Helen Johnson; grandchildren, Neil Richard (Charli) Johnson II and Linnea Dirae (James Hampton) Johnson; great grandchildren, Landon Johnson, Raelynn Johnson, Michael Hampton, Abi Hampton, Emma Hampton, and Kobe Hampton; in-laws, Kathy Maness, Larry (Carlene) Hines, and Randy Hines, Georgianne Hines; bonus daughter, Carla Zerfas; several nieces and nephews; and her fur-baby, Mickey.

She is preceded in passing by her parents; sisters, Sue Roberts and Patty Gann; son-in-law, Neil Johnson; brothers-in-law, Jim Hines and Ed Hines.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 8, 2025, from 4-7pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Funeral services will be held 11am, Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Bunnell Cemetery. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
