Delbert H. Rayburn, 98, of Eldridge, Iowa, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, at Grand Haven Assisted Living.
Born October 9, 1926, in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, Delbert was the son of Samuel L. and Marie M (Fidler) Rayburn. He attended Monitor High School and graduated in 1944. After graduation, Delbert served in the US Army.
Delbert married Juanita Rogers, who preceded him in death. In 1971, he married Betty Jo Welch, who passed away in 1997. On April 18, 1998, Delbert married Doris “Midge” L. Paddon, and she survives.
Delbert worked at the Truck Center in Lafayette for 27 years before retiring in 1987. He was an active volunteer at the food bank for 26 years and a member of the Pyrmont Methodist Church. In 1997, he moved to Pineville, Arkansas, where he was a member of the Wild Cherry United Methodist Church. In 2022, he relocated to Iowa. Throughout his life, Delbert especially enjoyed raising all kinds of livestock, gardening, and woodworking.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Midge Rayburn; sons, Dennis (Rita) Rayburn and Larry (Pat) Rayburn; daughter, Teri (Tony) Anderson; stepdaughter, Kris (Don) Hadley; stepson, Kevin (Andrea) Baker; brother, Harold Rayburn; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Delbert is preceded by his first wife, Juanita; second wife, Betty Jo; stepdaughter, Kathy Cunningham; sisters, Louise Rayburn and Florence Cooper; and brother, Lee Rayburn.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 2, 2025, from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel in Rossville. Pastor Doug McCord will officiate. Private burial will be in Pyrmont Cemetery.
