Cheryl Kay (McClary) Larson

March 19, 1945 — May 16, 2024

Cheryl Kay Larson, 79, of Rossville, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Wesley Manor with her husband by her side.  She was born on March 19, 1945, in Seneca, Kansas to Othel Edward “Peel” and Iola Fern (Wohlford) McClary.  She met her husband, Ron Larson, when he was stationed in Topeka with the United States Air Force in 1968.  They dated and then married August 8, 1970, in Centralia, Kansas.  He survives.

Cheryl was a 1963 graduate of Centralia High School.  She then attended Stewart’s Beauty Academy in Topeka, Kansas.  She worked at several jobs over her years, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, CFS, Clinton County Bank & Trust, Milner Health, and Vetamac.  But her most important job was being a homemaker and caring for her family.  Cheryl was a member of Card Club, Young Farmers, Extension Homemakers, and Geetingsville Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed time outside, planting flowers and working in the flowerbed, gardening, canning, baking, snowmobiling, playing cards, and riding the Harley with her husband.  Spending time with dear friends was important, and she enjoyed celebrating the 4th of July at the pool and traveling to Shipshewana with them.  Cheryl was a fun, out-going lady that cared deeply for her family.  She loved trips back home to see her family in Kansas and was very proud of being a grandma.  She was a strong supporter of her children in their activities at Rossville and in 4-H.   In addition, she loved cheering for her grandsons and the Carroll Cougars.

Along with her husband of 53 years, Cheryl is survived by her children, Gregory E Larson, Gretchen Jo (Randy) Welk, Griffin Renee (Kevin) Morgan; brother, Dennis (Sharlene) McClary; grandchildren, Grady Scott (fiancée, Emma Bright) Welk and Cooper Lee Welk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold McClary and Forrest McClary.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 4-6pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel in Rossville.  A private family burial will be held later at Geetingsville Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Clinton County 4-H Program or Centralia Methodist Church.  Messages of condolence may be made to www.dayandgenda.com.
