Charles E. Clem

Charles E. Clem, 91, of Flora, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at Rosewalk Village in Lafayette. He was born in Fulton County on August 9, 1929 to Paul and Ethel M. (Bowman) Clem.  He married June Allbaugh on January 14, 1951; she survives.

Charles was inducted into the United States Army in 1951 and served during the Korean War.  He was transferred to the United States Army Reserves in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1957.  He worked for Pioneer Hybrid Seed Company until his retirement in 1988.   

He was a long-time member of the First Brethren Church where he held many offices, including trustee, and most recently attended Victory in Christ Fellowship.  He was an all-around handyman who could fix anything.  He coached and umpired Little League baseball for many years and was a member of a winning horseshoe throwing team.

Surviving along with his wife of seventy years, June, are his children; Stephen (wife, Karen) Clem of Kokomo, Colleen (husband, Steve) Tennyson of Lafayette, and Allen (wife, JoLynn) Clem of Carmel; sister, Irma (husband, Mick) Cook of Cutler; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Douglas Clem; brother, Robert Clem; and sisters, Maxine North and Rita Hutton.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Genda Funeral Home, Reinke Chapel in Flora.  The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2021 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Victory in Christ Fellowship, 115 N. Washington St., Flora, Indiana.  Elder Greg Brenneman will officiate.  Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora.
