Billy Lee Hughes, 81, of Frankfort, passed away Monday, August 25, 2025, at his home. He was born on April 30, 1944, in Cumberland County, Kentucky to Billy M. and Nellie Beatrice (Scott) Hughes. He married the love of his life and lifetime companion, Linda Stull on August 31, 1963, and she survives.
Billy worked as a supervisor for Exide Battery before becoming a Journeyman Roofer. He worked for several roofing companies for over 20 years, including, Hinshaw Roofing in Frankfort and CEI Midwest in Michigan, who he traveled with to the Carolinas to assist with the repairs from Hurricane Hugo. Billy enjoyed fishing, camping, and staying at his trailer on the lake. While at the lake he attended Christ Community Church in Brazil. He enjoyed going to the VFW.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his sons, David and Danny Hughes, both of Frankfort; five grandchildren, Danny (Rachel) Freeman, Brittany Doty, Scott Hughes, Cory (Liz) Hughes, and Erica (Keith) Lowe; a step grandchild, Ashley (Keith) Lacefield; great grandchildren, Gabriel Freeman, Braxton Doty, Rider Doty, Haden Hughes, Kaylee Hughes, Datson Hughes, Emery Hughes, Carson Hughes, Chloe Hughes, Elijah Hughes; step-great Hallie Mofford, Payton Mofford, Arianna Mofford, and Malachai Mofford; sisters, Hilda Buttz and Glenda Calvert.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Anna Pearl Bailey, Dorothy Flintcraft, Nina Pate; a brother Ed Hughes.
Visitation will be held, Thursday, from 10am until the time of the service at 12pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
