Barbara L. Spurgeon

Barbara L. Spurgeon, 80, of Frankfort, passed away at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 4, 2021. She was born on April 22, 1941, in Carroll County, Indiana.  She was the daughter of Herschel and June (Hill) McCoy.  

She was a 1959 graduate of Frankfort High School.  She married Richard D. Spurgeon on December 17, 1960.  They were the parents of one daughter, Judith E. (Spurgeon) Woodard.

She is preceded in death by her parents; their daughter, Judith; and a grandson, Carlos Keanan Joseph Woodard.

She is survived by a granddaughter, Kaniesha Woodard of Indianapolis; a son-in-law, Gary Woodard (Charlotte) of Frankfort; five brothers, William McCoy (Pauline), Robert McCoy (Janet), and Richard McCoy all of Frankfort, Paul McCoy of Lancaster, California, and Gary McCoy (Mary) of Morristown, Indiana; two sisters; Rebecca Peavy of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Patricia Perry (J.D.) of Lebanon, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara was a 4-H member and a member of the Hillisburg, Indiana Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.  She was employed for ten years at P.R. Mallory Controls in Frankfort.  She enjoyed painting ceramics and gifting them to her family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.  The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 10 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Burdett and Pastor Robert Carter officiating.   A live-stream of the service will be available online at www.gendafuneralhome.com for those who would like to join virtually.  Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.

Memorial contributions in Barbara’s honor may be made to Clinton County Humane Society and American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
