Barbara H. (Stevens) Johnson

Barbara H. Johnson, 86, of Frankfort, passed away at her residence, Friday, May 23, 2025. She was born April 17, 1939, in Frankfort to Harry and Helen (Painter) Stevens. She married Hubert “Hub” Johnson on November 24, 1978. He preceded her in passing on February 19, 2014.

Barbara was a graduate of Kirklin High School, class of 1957. She worked for Purdue University as a Lab Tech for a few years and then worked several other jobs over the years. But her pride and joy was being a mother and caring for the home and her family. She was a member of the Frankfort First Church of the Nazarene. She was a member of the Water Angels group at the former YMCA and participated in book clubs and Bible studies. She enjoyed making “The Cross in my Pocket” to give away as part of her life ministry, doing jigsaw puzzles, cooking and baking. Above all things she loved her family. She loved being a mother and grandmother and enjoyed doing things to make each family member feel special with cakes and love. She was a people person and cherished time with visitors and spending time with others.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Becky Harlow, Beth Johnson, Penny Tucker, Darlene (Scott) Balko; sons, Brad (Janice) Johnson, Bryan (Debi) Johnson, Sam (Machelle) Hensley, five siblings; 20 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dwight Hensley; three siblings; and two grandsons.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 2pm until the time of the service at 4pm Frankfort First Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Gordon Smith will officiate. Day & Genda Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s honor to Frankfort First Church of the Nazarene.
